The Clyde Exposed

We are a concerned group of anglers who fish the River Clyde and are shocked at the way the fishings in some areas are managed or should we say not managed. Poaching is a major problem yet anything we report seems to fall on deaf ears. The Crown Estates who own most of the salmon fishings have failed the River Clyde by allowing some of their tennents such as the Avon Angling Club (AAC) and the United Clyde Angling Protective Association Ltd(U.C.A.P.A.Ltd) to control the salmon lease but yet break the terms and conditions of said lease namely failing to prevent poaching. Over the next few weeks we the 'Grass Carp' will attempt to expose all of the nonesense that has gone on and which we feel has held a great river from becoming a premier salmon fishery. We will demonstrate how the Crown Estates and the Scottish Executive have sat on the fence and allowed one angling association to bully others. We will direct you to various web sites where evidence of the underhand tactics of U.C.A.P.A.Ltd This site is dedicated to all of the anglers who care but who are not listened to, perhaps now that everything is being made public those in charge might get off the proverbial fence and do the job they are paid to do!!!! We ask that anyone with any evidence of poaching or failure of an association to protect the fish please let us know and we will petition those who should be doing something about it and request written replies.

Is it not time to sit down and get Clyde sorted out for the benifit of all. There is far too much secrecy going on by the looks of things.

The Nethan Valley Angling Association , Mid Clyde Angling Association and Busby Angling Association had absolutely no part in the vote of No Confidence put forward by U.C.A.P.A.Ltd. at the meeting of R.C.F.M.T.Ltd on 11th December 2007 and were unaware that such a motion was going to be raised or they would have sent representatives to block it. Given That both Roddy Finnie and Kemp Meikle have done more for the Trust in two years than many others have in many years I think the motion is not only illegal but totally unfair. I will quote one example a few months ago:- I requested information on all dams weirs and barries in each part of the system controlled by Trust member clubs so that the whole problem could be highlighted on a Power Point presentation> the only info I got was from Kemp and Roddy and 1 picture of Millhueh dam on Avon which I am sorry to say was of no use. I had to then go and take my own pictures of Avon dams and weirs. Roddy Finnie and Kemp Meikle were the only ones to supply any pictures or information.
Well done the rest for your enthusiasm and input. The wrong men were targeted and that will soon become evident to all if the Trust continues along its present line of thinking. Those responsible should hang there heads in shame as i know that the decision has deeply hurt both men concerned and after the sterling service and dediaction they have shown towards the catchment as a whole. My messagee to the R.C.F.M.T.Ltd is wake up and look at the big picture forget all the bickering and infighting and lets all try to get on for the sake of the river. Lets make 2008 the year that the R.C.F.M.T.Ltd finally gets off its arse and does something productive as a whole for once, and not as individuals trying to score points from each other. Too many egos I'm afraid.
To many people running with eronious tales to those in authority, like sad little school boys. They know who I'm talking about!!
